Ramtin Zad
B. 1984 - Iran
Ramtin Zad, a Tehran-based artist, graduated with a degree in fine arts in his hometown of Tehran, Iran, where he established his career as a figurative painter and sculptor.
Known for his narrative paintings characterized by bold colors, thick brushstrokes, and detailed textures, Zad often draws on religious and mythical themes. His work explores the cycles of nature, focusing on the recurring patterns of decay and renewal, both on small and grand scales.
Since 2006, Zad has exhibited his work internationally in solo and group exhibitions at galleries, museums, and private collections in cities such as Tehran, Dubai, Basel, Kuwait, London, Beijing, Turkey, and New York.
His diverse body of work ranges from large-scale paintings and installations to drawings, sculptures, and video art. Zad frequently incorporates well-known mythical and fictional characters like Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, and Pinocchio to reflect on the challenges of transitioning into modern life and the quest for understanding reality.
For over three decades, his imaginative and thought-provoking creations have explored the human condition, filled with humor, tragedy, deception, and romance. By engaging with both historical and contemporary narratives, Zad’s work blurs the line between human and non-human figures, imbuing his subjects with a timeless quality. His work continues to be showcased in numerous exhibitions, both nationally and internationally.
