Habib Tohidi, born in 1951 in Tabriz, pursued his BA and MA in painting at Mimar Sinan University in Turkey from 1975 to 1983. He also holds a first-degree doctorate in arts from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
Tohidi's artistic journey began with his first solo exhibition in 1994, and since then, he has participated in over 150 group exhibitions both in Iran and internationally. As an esteemed figure in the art community, he serves as a faculty member at Islamic Azad University and is an honorary member of the Iranian Painters Association as well as the Contemporary Visual Arts Development Institute. Notably, he won the Islamic Art World Biennale in 2006.
Tohidi’s works are deeply influenced by Iranian miniatures and traditional rugs, often incorporating human, plant, and animal figures. His artworks are housed in several prestigious collections, including the treasury of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Pasargad Bank Museum, Palestine Museum, Imam Ali Museum, and the Visual Arts Development Center. Beyond painting, Tohidi has also made contributions as a translator of art books.
