Master Parviz Kalantari, born in 1931 in Zanjan, Iran, graduated from the Fine Arts Faculty of Tehran University. He gained renown for his illustrations in school textbooks.

Beginning his career with illustrations, the young artist later focused on depicting nomadic life in his paintings, thereby acquainting urban dwellers with the seasonal migrations of nomadic communities.

Kalantari belonged to a generation dedicated to bridging modern painting with Iran's rich cultural heritage and traditions. He strived to create new works that spoke the international language of contemporary painting. He believed that while tradition represented the language of the past, modernism embodied the language of today. For him, it was essential to express traditional themes through the lens of modern artistic techniques.

His art was also exhibited internationally, including in the UK and the USA, where it was consistently well-received. Notably, his artwork "Iranian City" was displayed at the UN office in Nairobi, Kenya, in October 2005.

In addition to his visual art, Kalantari published several books and articles on art and Iranian artists. His notable works include "Four Narrations" and "Nietzsche No, Just Say Mashd Esmail."
